Small Town Newspaper - Fireplace or Bird Cage?

Small town newspapers end up in the fireplace or lining bird cages (probably more so for hamsters & guinea pigs) ...

My experience...

We have a small free newspaper that gets dropped in our mailboxes once a month...

In there you will find honor roll students, town government news, an editorial section (where people exchange shots with town officials), and to my surprise a heck of a lot of ads!

Real Estate peeps, contractors, tree removal guys, painters, lawyers and the list goes on...

I'm not 100% sure what these ads cost... Though, I'm pretty sure that if they cost more than $25 they probably aren't worth it... Why? Times have changed, the world is not like it was 10 minutes ago.

Looking at these ads I could visualize how each one would look being placed on a social media platform... Not only could they look better and gain more eye traffic... They could include more information and MOST importantly they could actually link to the advertiser's website. The website could then capture many of the visitors email addresses using a click funnel... Free emails make for good adversing...

These ads could be targeted to people with interests, hobbies, gender and ages that match the advertisers intended audience perfectly. The ads, for a very small amount of money, could do their work over the course of a month... Targeting one zip code and then the next...

Gain a few "LIKES" and now you have yourself appearing on prospects news feeds when you post "helpful hints" or "customer reviews"...

There are so many more effective ways to utilize your ad spend... Get out of the bird cage and into where your customers are spending up to 25-50% of their waking hours...

If you want to explore social media marking strategies... Visit , all initial consultations are of zero cost to you.
